Be Aware of Electric & Solar Scams

Appalachian Electric Cooperative (AEC) would like to remind you to be careful with your personal information if someone calls to tell you your electric service is in jeopardy or if they want to charge you a fee to sign you up for solar. AEC will never call anyone to demand payment for any reason. Before you give out your personal information, please hang up and give us a call at (865) 475-2032. We often see an uptick in scams in different seasons, and we never want members to fall prey to electric or solar scams.

In addition, be cautious with installing new solar generation. While the “sales pitch” may sound great, check with AEC before you sign off on any deals. Many solar scams are out there, and we’ll help you learn the correct rules when it comes to renewable energy. Remember to call AEC before you commit to any solar project.
